How do you handle reader expectations in romance?
i
@inkandashes8h agoRomance readers have very specific expectations about tropes, pacing, and endings. I write slow-burn romance and some readers get frustrated when the leads don't get together quickly. Do you: A) Stick to your vision and accept some readers will drop off B) Adjust based on comments C) Set expectations early in the synopsis/tags I've been doing C but still get complaints. Would love to hear how others handle this.

@Luna Park7h agoC is the right call but you also need to deliver small wins along the way. Even in a slow burn, readers need moments of connection every few chapters to stay invested.

@Selene Marquis5h agoA, always A. The readers who love your specific style will become your biggest fans. Chasing the crowd means you write something generic.
